MORE ABOUT OUR PLACE HUNTSVILLE
Funding
Our Place is a 501(c)(3) organization. It is cooperatively funded by the Alabama Department of Mental Health, grants, and private donations. It is a freestanding and independently operated facility; it is planned, developed, and governed by an incorporated board of directors and Members according to Members' expressed needs and desires.
The Our Place mental illness support group is neither therapy, treatment, nor a 12-step program. Rather, it is a place for those with mental illness to share their struggles while gaining insight and understanding. The focus is on providing each other with positive and constructive feedback. We encourage individuals to reach out, build new relationships and avoid isolation by joining a support group.
RELAX & SOCIALIZE IN A CASUAL SETTING
MEMBERS CAN EVEN SERVE ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS, WHERE THEY WILL LEARN PRACTICAL LESSONS ABOUT PLANNING, BUDGETING, AND WORKING
